Posillico is an 80 year old heavy civil contractor headquartered in Farmingdale, NY. Over the past few years Posillico has expanded operations to include offices in Texas, Virginia, and Florida and has plans to continue growing organically and through acquisition. To run operations Posillico has been modernizing their tech stack including office, field and equipment.
The Challenge
Existing legacy systems needed to be evaluated. After adding Procore to manage documentation (IE: Drawings, RFIs, Submittals, etc.) they sought to replace their field management solution, HeavyJob. HeavyJob was used to capture time and quantities for job costing and payroll and ultimately feed their ERP, Vista by Viewpoint. However, legacy software needed to be installed and maintained on site. Posillico's growth outpaced the capacity of HeavyJob to handle the increase in data from the field, and the demand to streamline workflows for end users.
The Search for a Solution
As they were evaluating the future of HeavyJob and possibly moving to the cloud, they began looking in the market for a more modern, cloud native, system. Their solution would ideally work seamlessly with Procore and Vista, their existing account system. After reviewing over 20 solutions they narrowed their evaluation to Vista Field Management, B2W, InEight, Miter and Riskcast.
THE RESULTS
After evaluating all options, Posillico determined Riskcast was the best fit to meet their needs. They saw key enhancements to their business:
Easy to use
After evaluating all options, Posillico determined Riskcast was the best suited to replace HeavyJob. They planned to start new projects in Riskcast and sunset HeavyJob as existing projects were completed. Shortly after implementation began, the ease of transitioning to Riskcast gave Posillico the opportunity to convert existing projects quickly and cancel their legacy system early, at a significant savings.
Integrated with Vista
Knowing that Riskcast had experience integrating with Vista was important to us. Being able to enter Projects, Budgets, Cost Codes and People in Vista and having them then available in Riskcast without duplicate entry means less work and also less chance of errors. Then weekly being able to review timecards and run an export for integration back to Vista for payroll meant an enormous time saving.
Jobcost visibility
By integrating Riskcast with Power BI we are able to understand our job cost and productivity at a much deeper level, coupling field data with that from our ERP and PM software. Meshing these data pools allows us to analyze our cost code, crew and production details in a powerful way that improves operational and estimating decisions.
The Riskcast Solution
Riskcast replaced HeavyJob as Posillico's cloud-native system for time, production, and equipment tracking. Combined with Vista, Riskcast allows projects, budgets, cost codes, and people to flow from accounting to the field and hours and quantities flow back again.
Field teams capture accurate data with minimal effort, while office teams review and export approved timecards to Vista. The simplicity of the platform enabled Posillico to migrate projects faster than planned, retire their legacy system early, and gain better visibility into job costs and productivity.
